Shoes In Wall to Ward off Evil

People once concealed shoes in wall dividers to avoid bad spirits

The former home of one of the most notorious figures in the study of the occult and the mystical has gone up for sale. The fire-ravaged ruins of Boleskine House, The ruined former home of notorious Satanist Aleister Crowley has been put up for sale.
It is on the market, along with over 22 acres (9 hectares) of land, for over £500,000.
Mr Crowley is said to have carried out what he claimed were black magic rituals at the property, near Foyers, between 1899 and 1913.
The building - which was later owned by by musician Jimmy Page, of Led Zeppelin - is reported to be haunted or cursed.

Maes Y Neuadd is steeped in history, with the land originally being gifted by the King to the first Lord Lieutenant of Merionethshire where as a Royalist estate, it was visited on a number of occasions by Oliver Cromwell. From the mid 17th century it became the principle home of the Wynn family until the early 20th century, when it was converted to an exclusive country house hotel with legendary guests such as Jackie Kennedy Onassis and Edward Kennedy, Kylie Minogue, Nigel Mansell and the Attenborough brothers.
